A conference was held on "Legal and constitutional basis of return to West Azerbaijan: in the context of national and international norms".

On December 25, the Ombudsman of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Nakhchivan State University jointly organized the "Legal and Constitutional Basis of Return to Western Azerbaijan: In the Context of National and International Norms" within the "Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty". A conference was held on the subject.

Representatives of the Ombudsman's office, judicial and prosecutor's offices, central and local executive authorities, Western Azerbaijanis, university faculty and students, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and media organizations took part in the conference.

At first, at the conference, the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, as well as the "Azerbaijan Airlines" plane crash that happened near Aktau on December 25 last year the dear memory was commemorated with a minute of silence, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

Rector of Nakhchivan State University, West Azerbaijan Elbrus Isayev, the head of the Community's Representation in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and Gunay Rzayeva, the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, made an introductory speech and gave detailed information about the importance of ensuring the rights of West Azerbaijanis in the context of human rights and freedoms, the legal basis of the return to West Azerbaijan, and the state policy implemented in this direction.

The conference was continued with a panel discussion after the video prepared by the Ombudsman's office.

Panel participants moderated by Nurana Karimova, an employee of the Ombudsman's office: exchanged views on national and international legislation.

Faig Safarov, employee of the Prosecutor's Office of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, "International crimes committed against West Azerbaijanis and Armenia's responsibility", representative of the West Azerbaijan Community Representation on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in Ordubad district Ayten Jafarova "Return of West Azerbaijanis: Prospects of realization and state policy", employees of Nakhchivan State University Mehriban Imanova "Economic justification of return: recovery of resources, new economic zones and investment opportunities", Yunis Khalilov spoke on the topic "Legal model of return: application of exemplary international practices for the repatriation of internally displaced persons in the context of Azerbaijan".

During the speeches, the participants were brought to the attention of the complex measures implemented under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev regarding the return to Western Azerbaijan, including legal, political and diplomatic activities within the framework of the "Concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan". 14.0pt">At the end, the questions of interest to the participants were answered and opinions were exchanged.
