A scientific conference was held on "Emergence of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: from the past to today and tomorrow".

Organized by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the Nakhchivan Branch of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the Nakhchivan State University, a scientific conference was held on the theme "Emergence of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: from the past to today and tomorrow".

At the conference organized at Nakhchivan State University, the dear memory of those who died in the battles for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute's silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

Academician Ismayil Hajiyev, chairman of ANAS Nakhchivan Department, said that, as is known, on December 30, 2023, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed the Decree "On the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic". In that Order, along with the historical development path of Nakhchivan, the role it played in the socio-political, social, economic and cultural life of our country was also extensively analyzed. As mentioned in the decree, Nakhchivan had a unique position and importance in the mentioned development areas of our country at different stages of history.

Ismayil Hajiyev said that the Great Leader had important services in the development of Nakhchivan. During all periods when the national leader led our country, attention was paid to the comprehensive development of Nakhchivan, and the restoration of Azerbaijan's state independence began from Nakhchivan. It is the Nakhchivan period of the Great Leader's life activity that encompasses the fateful period of independent Azerbaijan as a whole. The historical decisions made by the genius leader in those years were important steps calculated for the future development of Azerbaijan, the preservation and further strengthening of our cultural and historical values.

The Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Jeyhun Jalilov, greeted the guests at the conference and expressed his satisfaction at seeing the scientists in his native Nakhchivan. It was emphasized that the 100th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is celebrated with a series of events. Today's conference is a continuation of that series. Undoubtedly, when talking about the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the first thing that comes to everyone's mind is the unparalleled services of the Great Leader. Since the middle of last year  Very serious priority directions have been determined regarding the new stage of development of Nakhchivan. Thus, the works carried out by the President in the direction of the development of the autonomous republic are the agro-industrial development of Nakhchivan, raising the logistics potential from the local level to the regional level, increasing the potential of "green energy" and developing the tourism potential. The development of the logistics potential of Nakhchivan is not only local, but also the opening of the Zangezur corridor, the reshaping of the East-West corridor and the logistics routes of the continent in general are very important. The passage of transit corridors through our country, including the passage through the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the future, will result not only in economic efficiency, but also in the security of the future and the well-being of the population. Jeyhun Jalilov also drew attention to the fact that the other direction defined by Mr. President regarding the perspective of Nakhchivan is its potential related to "green energy". Many memorandums of understanding have already been signed over the past year, and many issues related to the export potential of solar and wind energy resources of Nakhchivan have been determined. In the coming days, the country and the people of Nakhchivan will witness important events. It goes without saying that the mentioned directions, in general, determine the prospects of the near and distant future of Nakhchivan. The Prime Minister also emphasized one point that the "State Program for the socio-economic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023-2027" defines 11 priority directions. Tasks related to specific actions and planned projects have already been defined for this perspective. If we look at those priorities, the first point is the formation of a favorable business environment in Nakhchivan, the implementation of institutional development, issues related to infrastructure, including the strengthening of personnel potential, which is an important point, and the implementation of extensive measures related to tourism, healthcare, social, agricultural and other fields.

Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev said that more than half of the 100 years of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are related to the activities of our Great Leader. Today, Nakhchivan, in the truest sense of the word, is experiencing its own different period of development at a new stage. We are the witnesses of this development period. The dreams and plans of our Great Leader about Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan are successfully realized by his worthy successor, the head of state. One of the important decisions of the head of the country for the prosperity of Nakhchivan is the introduction of a modern management system in the autonomous republic. Today, a new life is born in the ancient land of Nakhchivan, surrounded by the daily attention and care of the President of the country, which has become the pride of the people, and the fact that the head of state is so sensitive to the small problems of Nakhchivan pleases all of us.

At the conference, ANAS President Isa Habibbeyli spoke on the topic "Development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: history and modernity" and evaluated the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 30, 2023 as a manifestation of the care shown to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It was noted that that Order provides an important incentive to re-study the history of Nakhchivan's autonomy and development path from the position of Azerbaijanism based on the ideas of independence. This concern directs the development of Nakhchivan in the new era, and allows us to imagine its future more clearly. Academician Isa Habibbayli, who said that the scientific conference held today is of great importance, spoke about the future prospects of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which is experiencing its new era.

Academic  relevant  The decree is important in the re-study of Nakhchivan's autonomy history and development path from the standpoint of Azerbaijanism based on the ideas of independence.  pointed out that it is important. It was noted that Nakhchivan has successfully performed its tasks at various stages of history, and despite the interests of major powers in the region, the people of Nakhchivan have ensured the protection of the region. In modern times, Nakhchivan actively participates in the implementation of important State programs and successfully fulfills the tasks set.

Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Famil Mustafayev, on the topic "Training of highly qualified specialists in scientific institutions, organizations, higher education institutions of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: successes, achievements"  speech was heard. It was stated that the last years should be evaluated as a period of ensuring transparency in the socio-economic sphere and defining real development directions in the autonomy. Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic successfully implements state programs and infrastructure projects today, closely participates in increasing the country's economic power and strengthening its intellectual potential. Famil Mustafayev emphasized that Nakhchivan is one of the places where prestigious international events are held consistently. It was noted that the autonomous republic of Azerbaijan was declared a "green energy zone" within the framework of activities aimed at environmental protection. We are witnessing continuous work in the direction of expanding transport opportunities with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, as in other regions of our country, the development of the fields of science and education is always in focus in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In this regard, the "State Program for the socio-economic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023-2027", approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 5, 2023, will undoubtedly play a very important role in the rapid development of the autonomous republic in the coming years.

Then the speeches of Professor Ibrahim Ethem Atnur, dean of the Black Harp School of the National Defense University of the Republic of Turkey, Doctor of History, Professor Ibrahim Ethem Atnur, on "Achievements in the field of physics by the students of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", Kars Qafqaz University, Doctor of History, Professor Selçuk Ural, on "Developments in Nakhchivan during the independence process of Azerbaijan" were heard.

In the artistic part of the conference, there was a viewing of the documentary television film "Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic-100", a presentation of Nakhchivan State University  A concert of the orchestra of folk instruments of the College of Music was shown and diplomas were presented to a group of scientists working in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic by the chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission.
