A thematic meeting on the preservation of the mother tongue was held at NSU

      On December 19, in the International Cambridge School of Nakhchivan State University, a thematic meeting on "Protection of the purity of the Azerbaijani literary language" was held in order to ensure the implementation of the tasks given by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, regarding the preservation, development and use of the Azerbaijani language in accordance with literary norms.
    The management of Nakhchivan State University, teaching staff, scientific workers, researchers, students, as well as NSU took part in the event. The students of the English-oriented Gymnasium also participated. Elbrus Isayev, rector of Nakhchivan State University, opened the event with an introductory speech and emphasized that the protection and purity of the Azerbaijani language as the state language is one of the main directions of the strategic state policy defined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. 
      According to the rector, the head of state's principled position on protecting the purity of the mother tongue imposes a special responsibility on higher education institutions, and this issue is consistently addressed in the teaching process, scientific research and public environment of Nakhchivan State University. 
       Elbrus Isayev also emphasized that respect for the mother tongue is not limited only to the implementation of normative requirements, this is also an important indicator of the formation of national thinking and civic responsibility. 
       According to the rector, Nakhchivan State University takes the preservation of the mother tongue as an institutional value and forms an educational and sustainable scientific-social environment in this direction.
The main speaker of the thematic meeting, doctor of philological sciences, professor Mahira Huseynova, gave detailed information about the historical development path of the Azerbaijani literary language, strengthening its position as the state language, and the problems the language faces in modern times. 
      The professor noted that President Ilham Aliyev's consistent calls to protect the purity of the mother tongue play an important guiding role for the linguistic science and education system. 
Mahira Huseynova pointed out that the preservation of the mother tongue is not only at the scientific level, but also requires a principled position in everyday communication, social behavior and, especially, in the educational process. According to him, the teaching and proper application of the Azerbaijani literary language on scientific grounds in the conditions of globalization is one of the main guarantees of the protection of national identity and national memory. protection of the language is a practical manifestation of the national language policy defined by President Ilham Aliyev. In this regard, the International Cambridge School and the English-oriented Gymnasium operating under the Nakhchivan State University were evaluated as exemplary educational institutions where the mother tongue is protected and practiced at a high level. At the end of the event, the rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev expressed his gratitude to Mahira Huseynova, honorary professor of Nakhchivan State University, for her contributions to regular scientific and social cooperation with the university in the direction of protecting and promoting the mother tongue.
