The rector wished God's mercy to the martyrs, good health to the veterans and the participants of the struggle of that time.

Teacher of the "History of Azerbaijan" chair of the university Nuray Hajiyeva spoke about the historical significance of the January 20 tragedy. Later, the opening ceremony of the honor board "Those who ensure our sovereignty" was held at the Faculty of International Relations and Law of Nakhchivan State University. Aziz Gasimov, head of the Personnel and General Affairs Chair of NSU, said in his presentation that the name, surname, patronymic and date of martyrdom of 480 martyrs during the First and Second Karabakh wars are on the plaque.
