National Music Day was celebrated at Nakhchivan State University

Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev pointed out that in 1995, by the decree of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the great composer on the eve of the 110th anniversary of his birth, it was decided to celebrate September 18 as National Music Day. It is no coincidence that this decision was made on September 18, on the birthday of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, a genius composer and a luminary of our musical culture. It was noted that Uzeyir Bey, who left an indelible mark on the history of Azerbaijani music, laid the foundation of scientific musicology and music education and led the development of musical culture until the end of his life. The musical pearls created by the genius composer have gained world fame and entered the golden fund of world music culture. It was reported that prominent musical figures called him "the father of professional Eastern music". The rector highly appreciated the activities of the orchestras of the university, which contributed to the music of Azerbaijan, and the work done in this field. Symphony and other large-scale orchestras created by the collectives of the Conservatory and Music College of Nakhchivan State University performed memorable concert programs in the country and in many sister cities of Turkey. In addition, he emphasized that the performance of the musical comedy "O olsin, bu olsin", which is considered one of the brightest examples of Uzeyir Hajibeyli's creativity by teachers and students of the university, is a valuable stage work for the culture of the autonomous republic. Then the Symphony Orchestra, whose artistic director and conductor is Professor of Nakhchivan State University, People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Chingiz Akhundov, delighted the audience with a variety of magnificent musical numbers. "Cangi" from Uzeyir Hajibeyli's opera "Koroglu", Jahan aunt's couplets from "Arshin's Mal Alan operetta", Telli and Vali's duet, Prelude from the musical comedy "O olashin bu olsh" and other performances were greeted with applause.
