On the occasion of October 3 Cooperation Day of Turkic States and the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Nakhchivan Agreement, a conference was held on the topic "Organization of Turkic States on the 15th Anniversary of the Nakhchivan Agreement".

          The authorized representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Fuad Najafli, welcomed the participants of the conference in Nakhchivan, which is strategically important for the Turkic world and is located on the great Silk Road. He said that one of the important directions of the political-ideological activity of the founder of the modern Azerbaijan state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, is the unity of the Turkic world. When our Great Leader lived and worked in Nakhchivan in 1990-1993, he took decisions in this direction and attached special importance to the establishment of relations with brotherly Turkey. The author of the initiative to form the institutional structure of the Turkic-speaking states was Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the place where this initiative became a reality was Nakhchivan. In 2009, the holding of the IX Summit of the Heads of State of Turkic-speaking Countries in Nakhchivan and the signing of the "Nakhchivan Agreement on the Establishment of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States" have important historical and political significance. In the past period, the development of cooperation between the Turkic-speaking countries was achieved in various forms, as a whole the integration between the Turkic world countries was accelerated. All this necessitates closer cooperation from the point of view of international security and economy. Steps are already being taken in this direction, the Middle Corridor project is being implemented, the intellectual potential is being strengthened, and the Turkish Academy is operating. A common Turkish alphabet has already been created and work is underway on a common Turkish language project.

white">Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev said that our countries are approaching this step by step. It is proud and important that this union develops with the agreement established in Nakhchivan. Because Nakhchivan has played the role of a center bearing the symbols of Turkism for thousands of years. Once one of the central cities of the Atabays and the Seljuk Empire, Nakhchivan has always been an interesting region for the Turkic world with its geostrategic position, urban planning culture, and traditions. He noted that the Turkish region, strategically located at the junction of East and West, North and South, with a population of about 170 million, opens great opportunities for the expansion of mutual trade and economic relations. In 2023, the GDP of the economy of the Organization of Turkic States will increase by 18 percent compared to the previous year and reach approximately 2 trillion US dollars.
