II Republican Scientific Conference of young researchers "Scientific development: successes and challenges" was held at Nakhchivan State University. The conference was held at the Faculty of Arts of Nakhchivan State University.

First, the memory of our martyrs who died for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. Institute, ANAS N. Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev, declaring the conference open, said that the projects implemented in 2024 were important not only for the university, but also in terms of contributing to the scientific development of the region and world science, and memorable successful results were recorded last year, especially in scientific activity. One of the main priorities of the university is to increase the scientific potential of employees, and the number of employees with a scientific degree has increased to 229 people. So, in 2020, the number of scientific degree holders in the staff was 34%, and now it is 40.3%. Compared to last year, the number of employees at the university has increased by 10%, and on average, 50% of them have scientific degrees. The number of doctors of science in the staff has increased by 1.5 times compared to 2020. Rector added that compared to 2020, there was a 78% increase in scientific staff. The number of publications per academic staff increased by 3.4 times compared to 2020, and the highest result in the history of the university was recorded. In 2020, a total of 13 conferences were held at the university, and in 2024, the number of international congresses and symposia alone was more than that. In 2024, the number of articles indexed in Scopus by NSU scientists increased 5 times compared to 2023, and the number of publications indexed in Web of Science increased 2 times. At the same time, 73 scientific events, 14 international and 12 national conferences were held at the university in 2024. Also, the fund of the University's Scientific Library has been constantly enriched, and currently there are about 180,000 resources. Rector Elbrus Isayev , speaking about the role of mass media in the popularization and promotion of science and scientific knowledge, said that the development of scientific journalism, which is one of the important fields of journalism, will be focused on.

The Chairman of ANAS Nakhchivan Division Ismayil Hajiyev talked about the development path of ANAS and brought to attention information about the important role of science in the sustainable socio-economic and cultural development of the state. Ismayil Hajiyev noted that the development of science in our country is one of the main priorities of state policy. The "National Strategy for the Development of Science in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2009-2015", the Law "On Science" reflects the directions of development in this direction.  At Nakhchivan State University, continuous measures are taken in the direction of the development of science based on these directions, and the conference itself is an example of these measures. Stating that this promotion is related to the potential of quality personnel, especially the positive reputation of Rector Elbrus Isayev, Zahid Mammadov highly appreciated the organization of the conference. He said that today Nakhchivan State University draws serious attention in the world scientific community with its activities. Nobel laureate Aziz Sanjar's visit to NSU last year and his opinions about the university are a clear example of this. Zahid Mammadov also provided information on scientific research, international competitiveness, reference index in scientific publications, commercialization of knowledge, academic skills and other categories that determine the direction of the universities' mission. He noted that today the results of scientific research in higher education institutions in the country should be kept in mind and all research should serve the development of the country and the national economy. He expressed his impressions about his first visit to NDU and Nakhchivan. In particular, in his thoughts on the geographical position of Nakhchivan and the current blockade situation, he noted that Nakhchivan State University has overcome the blockade with its scientific achievements. informed about the measures and results obtained at the master's and doctoral levels.

Let's note that the conference will be held in 12 halls for two days on April 3-4, and will continue with 63 panels in a hybrid format.
