The "IV International Silk Road Congress", founded by Nakhchivan State University, took place this time in Antalya

On March 07-09, 2025, the IV International Silk Road Congress, which was founded by Nakhchivan State University, was held in Antalya, Turkey. The event was jointly organized by Nakhchivan State University and IKSAD-Turkey at the Bulent Ecevit Culture Center. href="https://ndu.edu.az/az/emekdaslar/ülvi-bakhishlı" class="employee-link" title="Ulvi Bakhishlı profile">Ulvi Bakhishlı participated. Elbrus Isayev, rector of Nakhchivan State University, honorary chairman of the IV International Silk Road Congress, delivered an opening speech at the event.

The rector noted that the history and essence of the Great Silk Road is a rich transport corridor. In addition to serving the development of trade and market relations, this road also had an important historical significance in the development of cultural relations between a number of countries and peoples, and had a positive effect on the economic and cultural development of our country. The rector pointed out that the restoration of the Silk Road is connected with the name of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Thus, the decree of June 7, 1998, signed by the Great Leader on holding an international conference on the restoration of the historic Silk Road, played an exceptional role in strengthening the integration of Azerbaijan with the countries of the world community. Rector Elbrus Isayev also spoke about the importance of Nakhchivan, which is located in a historically strategic position and attracts attention as an international transport corridor, in the development of economic and cultural relations on the Great Silk Road in the modern era. He brought into consideration the future prospects of the Zangezur corridor, its modern challenges, and added that Nakhchivan, which is called the "Turkish Gate", has a special place in this issue. More than 150 researchers from 17 different countries presented up to 90 reports on a number of topics at the section meetings. At the end, plaques were presented to the participants of the event by Elbrus Isayev, rector of NSU.

Let us note that the International Silk Road Congress, founded by Nakhchivan State University and held this year for the fourth time, was held for the first time in 2023 in Nakhchivan, in the same year in Igdir, Turkey. and the third was held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan in March 2024.
