The Nakhchivan forum of young people from Western Azerbaijan was held at Nakhchivan State University

The opening ceremony of the "Nakhchivan Forum of Youth from West Azerbaijan" project of Nakhchivan State University employee Salatin Mammadova was held in the "Make the Idea Real 2023" Grant Competition for Youth Individual Projects by the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  

Participants within the framework of the forum first visited the monument of the Great Leader in the center of Nakhchivan city and laid flowers in front of it. The guests at the Heydar Aliyev Museum were informed about the exhibits reflecting the life and activities of the National Leader.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, the dear memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. It was reported that under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the end of the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijan in 2020, and the full assurance of state sovereignty on September 19-20, 2023, created real opportunities for the restoration of the rights of our compatriots who were deported from Western Azerbaijan. It was emphasized that the forum held with the support of the Youth Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the organization of Nakhchivan State University and the joint partnership of the West Azerbaijan Community, including the "Return to West Azerbaijan" festival-congress, is an integral part of the work done in this field in the country. The Rector said that the discussions held at the forum are of great importance in terms of studying and promoting the history of Western Azerbaijan, and he is sure that new approaches will be revealed.

Deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the West Azerbaijan Community Aziz Alakbarli spoke about the specific tasks set within the framework of President Ilham Aliyev's "Return to West Azerbaijan" Concept, and at the same time, the work carried out in this direction. In his speech, the speaker emphasized the importance of informing young people in this matter, taking into account that the return to West Azerbaijan is a new line of Azerbaijani politics. It was reported that this has become one of the main goals and priority issues in both our domestic and foreign policy. Aziz Alakbarli also informed about the principle position of the President of Azerbaijan on this issue, his visit to the administrative building of the community, his full support for the restoration of the rights of the members of the West Azerbaijan Community and their return to their native land. In his speech, the academic said that he believes that justice will find its place regarding the peaceful return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia. Abel Maharramov, looking at the historical facts and statistics related to Western Azerbaijan, called on the youth to be active in this direction and touched on the importance of working hard to preserve our rich cultural heritage. In this regard, the academician considered it admirable to hold the forum at Nakhchivan State University.

After that, Abel Maharramov donated some of the books he authored to the university.

Deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, doctor of political sciences, professor Hikmat Mammadov is the founder of the West Azerbaijanis. speaking about the political and legal grounds of his return to his homeland, he spoke about the policy of ethnic cleansing, forced resettlement, violence, mass slaughter and genocide systematically carried out by the Armenian state authorities against Azerbaijanis in the last two centuries. It was pointed out that ensuring the intellectual and spiritual development of the young generation, educating them in the spirit of patriotism, and supporting projects aimed at realizing their innovative ideas serve the implementation of the state youth policy.
