84. Portion of pinna of fossil Pteridaceae

This specimen is a carbonized pinna of a plant of the Pteridaceae family. The leaf is attached to the main leaf axis. This structure is typical for fern-type plants. It belongs to the end of the Cretaceous era, the Paleogene - Neogene (56 - 33.9 million years ago) period of the Koinozoic era.
