A solo concert dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli was held at NSU

A solo concert dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the genius Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli was organized at the Faculty of Arts of Nakhchivan State University by Zeynalabdin Babayev, Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, laureate of national and international competitions, head teacher of the Chair of Music Education.

Various music samples reflecting the rich creative heritage of Uzeyir Hajibeyli were played at the event. The concert program included the composer's "II fantasy", a dance from the opera "Koroglu", and the aria of Majnun's father from the opera "Leyli and Majnun". Besides, Niyazi's novel "Arzu", number VIII from Antonin Dvorak's "Slavic Dances", Jahangir Jahangirov's vocal work "Mother", dance and other musical numbers from Fikret Amirov's ballet "One Thousand Nights" were performed. Besides being the author of the first opera in the East, he played an important role in the development of the national musical heritage on a scientific basis. His creativity has made Azerbaijani culture known worldwide by presenting the national musical thought in unity with classical European musical traditions. The composer's works remain relevant today and play the role of a musical bridge between generations.

At the end of the event, the teacher of the Faculty of Arts, individual scholarship holder of the President, prominent artist Akram Mammadli made a speech and emphasized the exceptional role of Uzeyir Hajibeyli in the musical culture of Azerbaijan, congratulated Zeynalabdin Babayev on the concert program he presented with high professionalism and wished him success in his creative activities.

NSU vice-rector for social issues and public relations Nicat Yagubov noted in his speech that promoting the legacy of Uzeyir Hajibeyli is of particular importance in the formation of the young generation's commitment to national musical values. He said that such events occupy an important place in the cultural life of the university and emphasized that the concert was organized at a high level.

At the end, the rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev was congratulated and a letter of thanks was presented to Zeynalabdin Babayev on behalf of the university management. In the congratulation of the rector, the work done in the direction of preserving the legacy of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, teaching and promoting classical music was highly appreciated.

Let us note that the concert program was accompanied on the piano by the teacher of the Nakhchivan College of Music under Nakhchivan State University Zinyat Mammadzade.
