"The great parade of planets" will be observed

  According to the Batabat Astrophysics Observatory of Nakhchivan State University, on February 28, 2026, the "Big Parade of Planets" will be observed.

    A planetary parade is an event in which several planets in the Solar System appear, usually in the same area of the sky, and approach each other. This situation is naturally recurring. During the alignment of the planets on February 28, six planets (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) will be visible in the evening sky.

    If the weather conditions are favorable that day, the planets that can be easily observed without a telescope: Venus (magnitude -3.9, the brightest in the sky after the Moon) object), Jupiter (magnitude -2.4, also bright), Saturn (magnitude 1.0, moderately bright), Mercury (magnitude 1.6 bright and visible).

Planets requiring optics: Uranus (magnitude 5.8, binoculars (required) and Neptune (magnitude 7.8, powerful binoculars or telescope required). Therefore, the opportunity to observe the planet Mercury will be short - it will be visible in about less than an hour.

Although Venus is the brightest planet in the sky, it will be very close to the horizon that evening. Therefore, an open and clear western horizon, as well as an early observation, are essential to observe it. Because of its brightness, Venus will be the most convenient reference point for finding Mercury and other nearby planets.  However, the location of the planets in a position close to the Sun and at a height close to the horizon can make their detection somewhat difficult.
