Independence Day was celebrated on May 28 at the International School of Nakhchivan State University

At the event, a minute's silence was held in memory of the great leader and our martyrs, and the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played.

Rector of Nakhchivan State University Elbrus Isayev on May 28, 1918 with the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the National Council of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic He noted that independence was declared to the world and emphasized that this event is a glorious page in the history of Azerbaijan's statehood. It was noted that during the short period of 23 months of the existence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, many important achievements were achieved, the first parliament and government of Azerbaijan were established, state attributes were established, and state borders were defined. Rector said that our country regained its independence in 1991, however, it faced many difficulties in the first years of independence. It was emphasized that the sustainable development of Azerbaijan was ensured thanks to the foresight and wise policy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who returned to power at the insistence of the people. The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is an example of the first parliamentary republic, the first democratic, legal and secular state in the Turkish and Islamic world: "This glorious history was recognized as Independence Day by the Law "On Independence Day" approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev on October 15, 2021. He also recalled the steps taken by President Ilham Aliyev in relation to the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: "In 2018, by President Ilham Aliyev The Decree "On the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan People's Republic" was signed, and on the occasion of this historical event, 2019 was declared the "Year of the Azerbaijan People's Republic" and a series of events were held in the country and beyond. The speech of Zamin Aliyev, senior lecturer of the Azerbaijani history chair of the university, doctor of philosophy in history, on the topic "May 28-Independence Day is a glorious page in the history of Azerbaijan" was heard.

The video-slide of Huseyn Tahirov, a student of the IX grade of the school, was shown in connection with the significant historical day.

Aykhan Isayev, a student of the eighth grade of the school, spoke on the topic "May 28 - Independence Day: History and pride".

The event continued with the artistic part prepared by the students of the university's Faculty of Arts and students of the International School. At the event, the students recited poems artistically, sang songs, and showed skits.
