On 16 December, the 3rd International Symposium titled “The Role of Technoparks in Education and Economic Development” opened at Nakhchivan State University, organized in partnership with leading universities and technoparks from Türkiye. The symposium aimed to discuss the role of technoparks in modern education and economic development, share international best practices, and explore new cooperation opportunities. In his opening remarks, Rector Elbrus Isayev emphasized the strategic importance of technoparks for Azerbaijan’s higher education system and highlighted Nakhchivan State University’s efforts to learn from Türkiye’s advanced technopark experience. He also noted that work has begun on establishing a Technology Park on a four-hectare area at the university, with the Innovation Center playing a key supporting role. Speakers from Istanbul University, Istanbul University–Cerrahpaşa, TÜBİTAK MARTEK, Entertech Istanbul Technopark, and several Turkish and Azerbaijani universities shared insights on university–industry cooperation, commercialization of research, and innovation in fields such as engineering, IT, economics, and medicine. The symposium continued with 15 panels across five halls, featuring over 150 scientific presentations and participants from nearly 30 academic and research institutions, including international representatives. The event is also one of the key deliverables of the ENGAGE Erasmus+ Project, contributing to capacity building, innovation ecosystems, and strengthened university–industry collaboration. Participants will receive certificates at the conclusion of the two-day symposium.
